Kat and I have given it a lot of thought, a lot of soul searching, and it's with deep regret that we must announce that this year is the last OrangeKamp we will coordinate. This isn't an easy decision because Kamp means just as much to us now as when we started going...but it seems like it's time to pass the torch if anyone will take it. We lasted 3 years...Roxy, you're a saint for doing it as long as you did.

This year has been rough, the economy sucks, and, understandably, it's really been difficult to get people to commit to Kamp. And we get it, it's a helluva lot easier to spend $10 to get into the Will Rogers parking lot for Shade or $10 at the door for Heat than it is to drive 2 hours and spend $140 for a 3-day weekend in Arrowbear. It's just that it seems like this year no one's...interested. Just look at the site...283 posts on the boards for OKamp 2009...almost 1400 posts for OKamp 2008. It's funny, I read the OKamp 2008 posts and there was one just like this - the only difference is that last year it got everyone up and motivated to get people to Kamp, this year we got only got a handful.

We're still moving forward with Kamp this year, we'll tap whatever reserves we have to make sure it goes off, but it'll be bittersweet for us - because we don't know if anyone will be willing to pick up the ball for next year. People move away, their priorities and interests change, it's all a part of life and seems to be what we're seeing here - we just hope that there's someone willing to make the commitment to seeing OKamp, in whatever form it takes, happen next year. We'll be more than happy to hand over the contact info and the step-by-step of what we've had to do to for Kamp to happen...we'll even be the first to buy pre-sale tickets.

So please, if you are considering going to OKamp this year, buy your ticket and help us go out with a Kamp to remember - bring that life, love and joy that turn the boards into an unbearable gushy mess after Kamp!
